In 1971, women still could not vote in Switzerland. Nora is a young housewife and mother of two who lives in a small, picturesque town where news of civil rights protests, the sexual revolution, and countercultural movements are barely a topic of discussion. Nora is a calm person who has everyone's sympathy. But when her husband forbids her from accepting a part-time job, her frustration leads her to begin publicly fighting for women's suffrage. Her newfound fame brings threats and the possible end of her marriage, but she refuses to back down, and she convinces the town's women to go on strike while she discovers aspects of her own liberation. The quiet lives of her neighbors will be completely affected.
